She deserved it. There was nothing in her actions that was re-
deemable, nothing that she could use to say she didn't deserve
all of the girl’s hatred and rage. It was her that brought the Lamb
to Columbia, her that thought up the whole elaborate idea in the
first place. If Comstock had to have a child of his own loins, then
why not a child which existed in another universe that was his?
Her employer got his Lamb, she got her brother, and at the time,
nothing could have been better than the arrangement they’d made.
And yet, she had never thought about the way it would affect Eliza-
beth–Anna–through all her selfishness. The scientist who was
always so keen to analyze every single aspect of a situation, every
possible outcome and how it would change the future, had never
bothered to think about the girl that she was having stolen away.
